Notes for women
Fasting works for women — but start gentler and listen to your cycle.
Key points
- Trials in women show similar weight and metabolic benefits from time-restricted eating as in men.
- Some women notice cycle changes or poor sleep with aggressive fasting. Start at 12–14 hours and progress slowly.
- Consider easing off in the week before your period, when hunger and energy needs are naturally higher.
- Do not fast while pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding. Ask your doctor if you have PCOS or thyroid conditions — fasting may help, but needs supervision.
